Appalachian Woodworking
About Us
What is Appalachian Woodworking
Appalachian Woodworking wasn’t just born out of a passion for woodcraft, it was cultivated out of love of nature. Based in Danbury Connecticut, a hop skip and a jump from the AT, some of my favorite memories come in the form of a brisk wind to my back while hiking along a ridgeline mid-fall. That passion I have for nature extends into each item I create. Nothing is mass produced and no two items are exactly alike, just as in nature.
“I don’t know if anything in nature ever grows exactly the same, but they are exactly as the way it should be, perfectly itself.” - Bob Ross

with returns or questions. Care instructions must be followed for any cutting board or utensil (also within each product description section):
Only hand wash! It should never go in a dishwasher
Soap and water should be sufficient for cleaning
Allow to dry vertically
If wood starts to dull, it’s time to wax
Apply a small amount of wax, let a few minutes go by and then buff
Our kitchen products will show wear, I.e. cut marks on cutting boards, wearing down of edges of utensils, etc. This is normal and with some extra effort, you can get long time usage. If cut marks are abundant and deep, sanding the board, starting with a 80 grit sandpaper sanding only effected surfaces decreasing grit to 120-150 and then down to 220-320, will get you a new surface. You can then treat with mineral oil and wax for additional protection.
If you don’t want to go through the trouble, please email me and we can give an estimate of resurfacing.
